The Manteno Police Department consists of 18 full time sworn officers, 6 crossing Guards, 1 animal control officer, 5 Auxiliary officers and 1 office manager. The Department is equipped with the latest technology and equipment available to Police Departments and all members are highly trained, dedicated and professional.
Community Policing is an important part of the Manteno Police Department. The Department performs many tasks and programs that are extremely important for community awareness. The Department is committed to serving all people with respect, fairness and compassion. The members of the Department act in partnership with the community to protect life and property, the members of the Department strive to prevent crime and preserve peace, order, and safety.
With community service as a foundation, members address problems and seek solutions with honesty and integrity. They work to develop and maintain public respect by holding the members to the highest standards of performance and ethics. The Police Department encourages, expects and needs community involvement to work toward a mutual goal of enhancing the quality of life with the community.
Members of the Department participate in the Kankakee County Major Crimes Task Force, the Mobile Field Force of the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS), the Kankakee County Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team as well as collaborate on a regular basis with Public Safety Professionals both locally and State wide.
